Update at Riverbend Post Acute Rehabilitation

Update at Riverbend Post Acute Rehabilitation

April 15, 2020

To the Community and Members of the Media:

Good afternoon and thank you for your continued interest in what is happening with our Riverbend family. In terms of today’s update, we have the following information to share:

  • Our housekeeping staff continue to work around the clock to keep the Facility clean and sanitary. We enhanced our cleaning program in response to the evolution of the COVID-19 situation, and the implementation of these enhancements has produced excellent results from a sanitization and infection control standpoint.
  • We are looking forward to the return of our 4th Riverbend resident following their acute hospitalization and subsequent stabilization secondary to the virus. We are grateful to have our resident back home, and look forward to facilitating their continued recovery in house and under the watchful eye of our clinical staff.
  • And while we celebrate the positive changes we are seeing in our residents, we are still faced with the pain of loss when one of our residents is not successful in overcoming the challenges presented by COVID-19. Patients with complicated and long-standing medical histories pre-exposure are not always able to overcome the effects of the virus, despite their best efforts and those of the treatment team. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers remain with the families of those who have gone with grace as a result of the pandemic – you will not be forgotten by those of us who had the privilege of knowing and serving you.
  • This morning, we were visited by nurses associated with, and the Director of, Harbor Hospice; these angels on earth lifted the Facility with song and honored the memories of Riverbend residents impacted by COVID-19 with roses, in what can only be described as a beautiful ceremony. We continue to be sincerely and deeply grateful for these demonstrations of support for the Riverbend community.

We thank you for your time today, and will look forward to updating you again tomorrow.
